ART ON BEDDING: A NEW WAY TO DECORATE YOUR BEDROOM
In April 2015, brand-new Melbourne-based boutique linen company, Sanctuary Boutique Linens, cracked the established scene with their design-focused, aesthetic-driven bedding. Aiming to breathe new life into the way people decorate their abodes, Sanctuary’s quilts and sheets are craftily designed to replicate art on bedding, offering a creative and clever way to enhance one’s own sanctuary by adding a swathe of cool colour to the main feature of their bedroom.
For their inaugural collection – El Dorado – Sanctuary’s creative team joined forces with San Francisco-based artist and illustrator, Llew Mejia, to design elegant and edgy patterns that showcase skulls paired with roses and toucans matched with tigers.
Targeting creatives, artists, and individuals who dare to be different, the El Dorado collection was inspired by nature and the mythical kingdom of gold, with its paradisiac motifs and dreamy scenes. ‘We wanted to put art on bedding, as an alternative from other decorating tools such as wallpaper or soft furnishings’ says Sanctuary’s creative director, Simone Rennard.
