A weekend escape with Ford
Last weekend my little family and I went on a weekend escape to one of our favorite places in Victoria, Barwon Heads. We have so many fond memories from this coastal town, my husband Tom grew up spending his summers on the beach there and we are fortunate to have family and many friends reside there too.
The long beaches are heavenly; the main street is always a buzz with fabulous home wares stores, restaurants, fish and chip shops and cafes.
A typical weekend of escape for us in BH involves a walk along the beach and in the warmer months a nice swim. Tom prefers 13th beach, whilst I prefer the quiet river, a round of golf of course for Tom whilst I make myself comfy in the club rooms with some wine and food, a visit to Annie’s is always a must, the Beach House for a drink and of course some fish and chips for dinner. Doesn’t get any better!
As Tom has a long-standing relationship with Ford through his work with Geelong Cats, I was lucky enough to test out the new Ford Escape for our weekend away. I had been told that it is THE family car, so I was eager to put it to the test.
We installed the car seat and Arabella, Tom and myself hit the road for our weekend escape. I first noticed how easy this car makes everything for you. Especially being a mum, you pick up on the little things in life, that are put there to make everything that little bit easier for you. For example, I had a pram in one arm and a bag in the other and to open the boot, I simply waved my foot under the boot of the car and opened for me… See what I mean? The little things. I also loved, loved, loved the Apple CarPlay and SYNC3 systems. These basically connects you to your phone like I have never seen. No complicated syncing methods, you just connect your phone via USB the plug or Bluetooth and bang! Everything on your phone is somehow on the screen in the car; your music, calls, messages, and emails everything! AND the voice lady reads out your messages for you and you can respond back to them using the voice recognition system. And I promise it works!
After I was blown away by all of the gadgets and clever little life-saving moments it has I was super impressed with the safety… and Tom certainly was too. This car is so safe! It can detect when you are too close to cars on the freeway the video car parking assist is next level and it has Australia’s highest safety rating. Further, it was a dream to drive. Big enough for a family but felt zippy too. Tom drove it with ease (which is saying something as he is 6.6ft) yet it didn’t seem to big and overpowering me. The boot space was fantastic and it is genuinely a really smooth ride.
So, thank you, Ford, for our weekend escape in your Escape. We loved it!
