Mothers Day Brunch
Mothers Day… Showing your mum how much you love her and how much you appreciate everything she’s done for you, oh and of course an epic brunch! And what better way to show your mum the love than by cooking her some AMAZING treats?
This has been one of my favourite shoots to date, I loved styling everything so girly and feminine and also loved getting creative with a DIY floral crown. My food contributor Kirsten really came to the party, literally, by serving up the most amazing desserts and my styling assistant for the day Hayley, wowed with some amazing DIY quote cards.
We really wanted to show you some easy and fun ways to bring some glam to your Mother’s Day brunch this year. You may think (well I hope you think, that this setting and food is fancy smancy) It is, but it is also very achievable to do on any budget. Let me break it down to you.
What we served:
Yellowglen – There are a range of Yellowglen products to suit all budgets from $6.00 to $16.00 a bottle depending on what you like (And let’s face it, the bottles look so pretty on a table) We served Pinot Noir Chardonnay, Pink Moscato, Vintage Cremant and also made a delicious Cocktail using the Chardonnay, click here for the recipe.
I went to my local florist who put together one big bouquet and two smaller ones (this is also where we got the flowers for the flower crown). Now, you do not have to use a florist to achieve this look. You can go to the markets and put together your own arrangement and use faux flowers for the flower crowns if you are wanting to save some money.
The flower crowns add to the styling of the table but are also are gorgeous take home for you and your mum. You may also consider making the crowns together as an activity before brunch. Click here for all of the steps
All the products featured on this table are from Maxwell and Williams (excluding the crystal glasses) I love Maxwell and Williams as they have such a mixture of styles from classic, modern, vintage and on trend pieces. Of course you can just use what you have around the house for your setting if you do not feel the need to go out and buy everything.
I wanted our table to look full and feminine, so, I used really large plates (cake plates) which took up a lot of space, linen napkins, cake stands which are always great to create height and depth to a table and then added some luxury marble and gold accents to modernise the classic products I had featured.
DIY Quote Cards:
We wanted to have a bit of fun with the quote cards and add a bit of humour. You can choose if you would like to be a bit more sentimental. The quote cards are a great way to add more elements to the table that really suit the floral arrangements and sit nicely under the flower crowns. Further, you can make these yourself so they are another great way to show how much you love your mum. She will love taking these home and sticking them on the fridge. We wanted the menu to be naughty but nice, if you know what we mean… Fun and decadent. So of course we included some delicious Yellowglen products in most of the recipes. From delicious cakes to my new favourite thing ever… Sparkling jellies! For the recipes and overviews click on each item.
