Yellowglen Terrace Launch at Sofitel Girls Day Out.
By Emma Hawkins.
As Australia’s most popular sparkling, it is truly an honor working for Yellowglen, a brand that has become an icon for Australian celebration. As the Lifestyle Director of Yellowglen for the past two years, I have undertaken a number of styling, brand ambassador and event responsibilities and have loved every second of it. This year I was able to step it up a notch by developing the concept, theming and styling of the 2016 Yellowglen Terrace through the Spring Racing Carnival. Last Saturday on Sofitel Girls Day Out was the launch of the Terrace. Whilst it was a freezing cold day, the who’s who of Melbourne turned up and everyone was looking amazing.
For this year’s Terrace we wanted to create a space that was the perfect marriage of sparkle, sophistication and spring and also one that was approachable and not over styled. We endeavoured to show our guests that there is a reason to celebrate life everyday, which is what our theme, Sparkle In Spring needed to represent. We wanted to embrace Spring and the true elements of Spring we love but so, often don’t see. With this in mind, I felt the Florals were a perfect place to start bring this spring theme to life. The team at Tillda Flowers and I put our thinking caps on and sought out a local paper designer to create hundreds of gorgeous and modern hand made paper flowers. These featured as the backdrop of our ever so popular Social Hub area. With touches of gold and sparkle throughout the feature wall we created a joyful, stylish and feminine setting. These features were also displayed throughout the Terrace on the walls and mirrors to create an over flowering effect and add that pop of colour to the Terrace.
A mixture of our signature white furniture teamed with gold and floral cushions added a level of comfort and glamour and then with the addition of the Perspex discs to our theme, the ladies at Tillda flowers also created a feature hanging wall installation, to continue that colour and sophistication to the roof of the terrace. They spray painted our green foliage to gold to continue that touch of sophistication and sparkle to the Terrace. I then collected multiple bottles in various sizes and had my local panel beater spray paint them gold (this is a fabulous tip, as the paint does not scratch off). I then placed the bottles in bundles onto the Perspex discs to create multiple centerpieces around the terrace. Featuring a single flower in each bottle, this continued our colour theme and sparkle throughout the terrace.
We love a good quote at Yellowglen and wanted to feature inspirational and encouraging quotes throughout the terrace this year. So, we added the new addition of the selfie mirror outside the social hub that will include a different quote for each different race day on it (yes, we are into photo ops at the Yellowglen Terrace) this also created a glamorous entry to the social hub. Further, we had paper fans featuring different quotes on them that were used in the selfie hub (and hopefully will be used throughout the terrace on warmer days).
The choices in our food and decorative drinks played a key role in the terrace, as we wanted them to compliment the styling choices. The sparkling Gin Gin Cocktail made another appearance this year due to popular demand; however, we added some edible flowers to really continue our theme. Also served was a range of our sparkling wine and beer. See below for full menu. The food menu was a mixture of classic crowd favorites, sophistication and fun. From chicken sandwiches, cauliflower truffle tarts, corn dogs, vanilla marshmallow cupcakes and more (see below for full menu). Oh, and did I mention we had a doughnut wall? You probably saw it all over social media on that Saturday. It was epic and definitely a crowd favourite.
Now it’s your turn to enjoy the Terrace. You can experience our Sparkle in Spring Terrace throughout the 2016 Spring Carnival in the new PLAYGROUND area at Flemington. We hope you enjoy it and we look forward to seeing all of your photos celebrating life out at the track.
