STYLE: ESTHER ANDERSON LOVES THAT…
Nominated for a Gold and Silver Logie in both 2012 and 2010, Esther Anderson is without doubt one of Australia’s most popular actresses. Although a very proud Geelong girl, Esther has been living in LA for the past two years and has already stared in the NBC’s mystery drama series Syberia and was the lead role in the movie Breathless that won the Directors Award at the prestigious Lady Filmmakers Film Festival. However, there is so much more to Esther than just her truly amazing acting skills (and let’s face it, her incredible beauty). Esther is one of the most down to earth, kind-hearted and funny souls you could meet.
We were lucky enough to chat with Esther to find out some of her favourite things and what she is lusting over right now.
Favourite item in your home? This picture I have of an angel. It’s from a photograph an English man took of a sculpture many years ago in some gardens in London. Then he’s printed it onto a tablet. It’s beautiful.
What are your travel essentials? I’m terrible. I find it very hard to pack lightly. If I had to narrow it down though, I never go anywhere without my laptop and my video camera as I will often have to film an audition while I’m out of town. I always bring make up wipes for the plane, melatonin for jet lag, rosehip oil to mix with my moisturizer for tired skin, my leather pants (they are perfect for dressing up or down), converse sneakers and a hat or two.
Your ideal Sunday is… Sleeping in followed by breakfast and coffee while reading the papers. Then a walk, movie or afternoon drink somewhere in the sun and a roast at mums.
What are your favourite things to do when you come back home to Geelong? I love being down at the waterfront. Dad has been a member of the Yacht Club for years so we have had many afternoons, birthdays, Christmas’ and Australia Days down there. It’s beautiful. I always head down the coast when I’m back too. I love Torquay, my uncle cuts my hair in Aireys Inlet and I’ve got family in Jan Juc and Anglesea as well! I’m lucky. I love all the beaches along the great ocean road.
I always try and get in a footy match if I can too. I’m yet to make it to a night game at Skilled Stadium though, so maybe my next trip home.
And what are your favourite things living in LA? The opportunities, the teachers and acting classes that are available to you there and Hollywood’s history. I still get a kick out of seeing landmarks or streets in films that are now part of my neighborhood. And walking onto the lot of Paramount pictures or Warner brothers for an audition or meeting, where so many iconic films have been made is somewhat surreal.
5 things you are lusting over right now?
1. I love that the roll neck jumper is back! So warm! I love Country Road’s range and there is a white fluffy one on the Australian flavour website that I love too!
2. I’ve wanted some high top sneakers for so long now…
3. I have a very large bare wall in my lounge/living area that I’d love a big painting for. I’ve been eyeing off Megan Westons beautiful paintings ever since I saw her work! They’re incredible.
4. I’ve also been meaning to try the eyebrow kit from Benefit Brows A Go Go Kit That I saw on the Chronicles of Nadia!
5. I would love to treat myself to a new perfume by Michael Kors. I smelt it walking past the store in Los Angeles and its stuck with me. I should have got it.
A Quote you live by? It’s more of a poem. It’s “If” by Rudyard Kipling.
Favourite Travel Destination? The Greek Islands was one of my favourite holidays ever. I also love Thailand, Japan, Vietnam and Italy. Plus all the places I haven’t been yet :) South America next hopefully!
